Summer Days with Danielle Gard
This summer it’s all about the brights! For one of the hottest looks of the season, team the versatile ‘Charlie’ Grand Extension Table with the vivid, cobalt blue ‘Golf’ chairs (pictured above).
For Decorative Use Only
When choosing table decorations, ensure those ornamental touches aren’t too overpowering – you still need room to serve food and drinks, after all! Add a simple cluster of pieces on two ends of the table, and group at various heights to add interest.
Try This: Showcase our medium glass sphere vase (below) filled with fresh flowers, ‘Thicket’ large lantern (below) for some mood and height, and a gorgeous white ‘Olly’ owl (below) for a quirky addition.
Start with classic white ceramic dinnerware such as our contemporary ‘Canteen’ range. Team with the ‘Daintree’ black platters, ‘Aqua’ tumblers and jugs (below) and ‘Bucket’ striped cutlery in denim (below) for a fresh, summery colour combination.
Use the S&P ‘Aspen’ tray to arrange an “antipasto platter” straight onto the board as a starter. A tasty assortment of grapes, cold meats, cheeses and roasted vegetables is a fabulous way to get your guests mingling and nibbling!
Hot Tip: Invest in one of our amazing ‘Lulu’ urns (below) for a cool, classy way to stay hydrated on a scorching day. Fill with punch or iced water and add slices of lime and lemon to add a splash of citrus.
Summer Nights with Sue Kropp
Summer evenings are the perfect time to entertain outdoors and nothing creates ambience like candles. Lanterns provide an ideal way to burn candles during summer as it keeps the candle from blowing out and serves to protect little hands from the naked flame! Lanterns are a gorgeous way to light pathways at night and when hung from trees, they can evoke a magical mood for outdoor dining. They’re also a great way to save on electricity and they illuminate areas that may not have access to power. If mosquitoes are a problem, burn citronella candles to provide fantastic light and keep those pesky mozzies at bay.
Display delicious summer trifles and fruit salads in our large S&P Salut Glass Bowls – nothing looks more amazing than fresh, brightly coloured fruits presented in a simple glass bowl. The Donna Hay Glass Dome would look divine sitting on a large table with an amazing tart, cake or pavlova sitting underneath ready to be devoured. And remember, the dome will also protect it while still allowing guests to admire the sweet treat beneath!
In Living Colour
There are so many great decorating ideas to add colour to your summer. Paper lanterns in vibrant hues are an inexpensive way to decorate outdoor summer spaces. String them together and hang from patios or trees. Group various sizes of these for an interesting effect. Coloured ice buckets are great for storing drinks in and to add flair to the party. Try creating a fun table setting with our JAB melamine dinnerware in its many bright colours. Another novel approach is to decorate with our Cactus Pot Candles – your guests will be checking to see if they are real succulents!
If you’re planning an evening soiree that carries on into the wee hours, ensure there’s an AeroBed® Mini Headboard Bed (below) on hand for those unexpected overnight guests.
